What emotions and feelings do you experience when going through your cycle? Do these symptoms become crippling or impact your daily function? Around 75% of Women experience signs of hormone imbalance and just because this number is high does not mean that it is normal.
In this episode, I am joined by the wonderful Jes Hagan. After experiencing years of debilitating mood swings, hormonal symptoms, and misdiagnoses, Jes knew she had to take her health into her own hands. She learned that she had been suffering from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, a cyclical reproductive mood disorder. Jes began to understand herself on a deeper level by monitoring her mood patterns, changing her lifestyle habits, and working on her hormone health.
Today, Jes applies everything she has learned throughout her personal experience and helps others as a period educator & integrative menstrual health coach specialising in PMDD support and wellness.
In this incredible conversation, Jes talks about her journey with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. You will hear about what her life was like at her lowest point suffering from PMDD, how to identify PMDD, what can trigger mood changes throughout our menstrual cycle, when we should expect mood changes in our cycle, top tips to manage mood swings, seven factor that impact our hormone health, and so much more.
Meet Our Podcast Guest:
[Cycle Day 8 – Inner Spring]
Jes is a period educator & integrative menstrual health coach who specializes in a cyclical reproductive mood disorder known as – Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder aka “PMDD”. She is the lead menstruator at Her Mood Mentor where she works both 1:1 and in group settings to empower, educate, and support females through learning to reduce & better manage severe premenstrual symptoms. Jes’s practice is rooted in the belief that the body has an innate capacity to heal but believes that a lack of cycle awareness education & training in symptom management tools is hindering individuals ability to cope with the natural, monthly biological process of menstruation. At Her Mood Mentor she approaches the menstrual cycle as the body’s 5th vital sign and advocates for the principles of informed consent, self-efficacy, and body literacy.
