Must reads I Love and Can't put down

So here you go the….

4 Books that have inspired me on my journey and have lead me to where I am today.

The Four Hour Body1.  The 4 Hour Body – An uncommon guide to rapid fat-loss, incredible sex and becoming superhuman

Author:  by Timothy Ferriss

I was actually recommended this book by a friend who’s a professional athlete, he’d read the book himself and said that there is much to learn from Tim in the ways in which the body operates relating to food and physical ability.  Of course I brought it straight away and as soon as I started reading it – I was totally sucked in and couldn’t put it down.

Here is the books blurb:

“The 4-Hour Body is the result of an obsessive quest, spanning more than a decade, to hack the human body. It contains the collective wisdom of hundreds of elite athletes, dozens of MDs, and thousands of hours of jaw-dropping personal experimentation. From Olympic training centers to black-market laboratories, from Silicon Valley to South Africa, Tim Ferriss, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The 4-Hour Workweek, fixated on one life-changing question:  ‘For all things physical, what are the tiniest changes that produce the biggest results?’  ‘Thousands of tests later, this book contains the answers for both men and women.’  ‘From the gym to the bedroom, it’s all here, and it all works.’”

Women Food and God2.  Women, Food and God – An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything

Author: Geneen Roth

This book was given to me as gift, but I took it more like a sign – it was meant to be at that particular time in my life.  Whilst reading this book I madly took notes, highlighted and re-read sections over and over.  Geneen’s outlook on food truly opened me up to the appreciation of what I was putting in my body and the relationship I had with my food.  I’m still extremely fascinated and learning about it today even though I read this book 2 years ago for the first time… and have re read it a few times since.
If you want to start to improve your food relationship this book is a great start.

Book Blurb:

“The way you eat is inseparable from your core beliefs about being alive. No matter how sophisticated or wise or enlightened you believe you are, how you eat tells all. The world is on your plate. When you begin to understand what prompts you to use food as a way to numb or distract yourself, the process takes you deeper into realms of spirit and to the bright center of your own life. Rather than getting rid of or instantly changing your conflicted relationship with food, Women Food and God is about welcoming what is already here, and contacting the part of yourself that is already whole—divinity itself.”

Move, Nourish, Believe.3. Move, Nourish, Believe – The fit women’s secret revealed.

Author: Lorna Jane Clarkson

This lady is one hell of an inspiration.  This was her first published book and I simply love Lorna’s passion for sharing her knowledge and drive for life, fitness and business. The book doesn’t just have a title either it’s a mantra that Lorna is spreading throughout the health and fitness lifestyle industry and beyond.  If your entrepreneurial get your hands on this book –
there is much to learn about the life of juggling lifestyle and business.

A passionate advocate of healthy living, Lorna Jane Clarkson has been on a remarkable journey since launching her active wear brand two decades ago. Here she shares the back-story behind the Lorna Jane brand, walking down memory lane from 80s neon leotards to nabbing a household name within the ath-leisure industry.”

I Quit Sugar4. I Quit SugarYour complete 8 week detox program and cookbook

Author – Sarah Wilson

LOVE this cookbook, has to be my favourite to date and that’s saying something as I have a few in the library.  The IQS book outlines the dangers of sugar and believe you me, you will have no idea how much sugar you actually eat until you read this book.  It also provides a step-by-step guide to kicking the sugar habit… oh and of course the recipes!  These recipes have most definitely been an inspirational in my kitchen.

Here’s a bit more about the book:

“Sarah Wilson was a self-confessed sugar addict, eating over 30 teaspoons of sugar every day. She’d developed mood disorders, a weight issue, sleep problems and an overactive thyroid. She knew she had to make a change. In January 2011, she decided to quit sugar. What started as an experiment soon became a way of life, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Packed with great advice, fun tips, personal stories and gorgeous photography, this is a simple and accessible guide to losing weight and getting well.”
