Did you know that over 500 million menstruators🩸🌏 worldwide lack access to adequate facilities to manage their periods.
I have deep gratitude every menstruation that I have access to running water, menstrual products and community support from all genders as there are many in this world without.
Imagine knowing your next bleed is arriving yet having no access to menstrual products. Or having a reusable product but no running or clean water to wash them and make them reusable.
Unfortunately there are still millions of menstruators who don’t have access to these simple necessities of being a menstruator.
Last year I was fortunate to attend the Period Poverty Conference and these are just some of the stats I took away;
🩸1 in 4 girls in Brazil ain't afford period pads, so they skip school (and this doesn’t just happen in Brazil)
🩸66% of Kenyan's don't have access or cannot afford menstrual products. Some of these then forced to exchange sex for menstrual pads
🩸37% of young menstruates (15-24) have used a reusable product in last period
🩸48% had never used a reusable menstrual products
🩸In the Netherlands 40% miss work due to their period
🩸42% of Mexican menstruators have to choose between buying food or period products.
🩸52% in Ethiopia have no information about menstruation before their first period.
🩸77% of menstruates in India still yes old cloth in place of period products, it’s all they have access to.
🩸33% of Nigerian’s skip school due to a lack of access to period products
🩸And in Japan 33% struggle to afford menstruation supplies.
Ending period poverty is not just about reusable products! Menstrual hygiene is key.
Today on Menstrual Hygiene Day I invite you to take a moment to consider your own menstrual cycle and access to menstrual hygiene. How could you make a better impact in your choices to better support a healthier earth and period poverty?

There are a few ways that irregular periods come a There are a few ways that irregular periods come about and one of the worst things you can do is stress and worry (it just adds to the challenges)
Thankfully there are heaps of natural ways to support this! Woot Woot🩸
Start with these;
🩸 First things first, BREATHE. Stressing and panicking only makes things worse. Try inhaling for a count of 4, and exhaling for a count of 6 when you're starting to feel a that bit of overwhelm and anxious creep in.
🩸 Set up a solid bedtime routine so your sleep is being prioritised. A sleep routine that works for me recently is not eating past 7pm and getting off all devices by 9:00pm, sleeping with fresh air and reading a book (not a device) before bed. Truly, this has made my sleep cycle so regular and oh so healing.
🩸 Ground yourself. Head into nature, connect and play outside. Listen to the birds, feel the air on your skin, the sounds of trees, water and wind. Go on, connect with the natural world around you. 🌿
🩸 I get that when we're stressed, we often drink more coffee, tea, sugary drinks however these can assist us in feeling more anxious. Instead, fuel yourself with water, stay H20 hydrated. And if that sounds a little boring, throw some fresh mint, lemon, berries, cucumber in your water to liven it up. 🌱 Not to mention... mint helps with period cramps!
🩸 Eat the rainbow! 🌈 Oh sister, I cannot stress this enough but you know the saying "you are what you eat", trust me when I say it's true! Eat an array of farm fresh fruits and veg daily.
