Have you heard of hypothalamic amenorrhea? It’s the scientific diagnosis for when women have lost their period, many times because of over exercising and under eating. Some women may not even know they have hypothalamic amenorrhea if they are on hormonal birth control, because it does such a good job (unfortunately) of making us believe we have a real, natural cycle.
To talk more about this in today’s episode, I am joined by Cynthia Donovan, a registered dietitian with a focus on helping women get their cycle back. After years of being orthorexic and overexercising, Cynthia went off the birth control pill and realised that she didn’t have her natural cycle anymore. Today, Cynthia is passionate about helping women reverse their hypothalamic amenorrhea (lost period) and regain fertility.
Throughout this episode, Cynthia shares her story of losing her cycle, what exactly hypothalamic amenorrhea is, the common signs or symptoms of someone who has hypothalamic amenorrhea, what she recommends if you have been diagnosed with hypothalamic amenorrhea, her view on intermittent fasting, and so many more tips.
