Isn’t it strange how fat our society has become in spite of the introduction of so called health foods, exercise reignems and weight loss diet plans. Wouldn’t you agree? If you look back, it’d be hard to deny the fact that very few people were overweight back in the early 20th century. How could this be? Back then exercise wasn’t a fad and people were not conscious about their excesses? I put it down to their diets compared to ours today in the 21st century, after all our ancestors certainly didn’t have whole grain options or processed food back then to select of the supermarket shelves.
Ever wondered what could possibly be so bad about whole grain’s, especially when they are supposedly natural products? Right? Shouldn’t we focus more on chemicals and preservatives in our foods instead of a non gluten free diet and so on? Well, it’s not so much about the production of these products as it is about its use for filling, rising and increasing the size of a particular product and it’s application. With commerce being factored into the cultivation of grains like wheat, consumers have been left with a boat load of unhealthy food options and unsatisfied appetites.
Something that many people don’t know is that a lot of farmers have genetically modified their crops so they grow easier, are faster to harvest, more versatile to use and less demanding to process. Because of genetically modifications to gluten this has unwittingly affected the composition of the whole grain, which in turn has changed our dietary processes – bringing forth an avalanche of abnormal reactions. Gluten, the protein byproduct of wheat, has been found to trigger allergic reactions among people who aren’t even affected by coeliac’s disease. Leaving people with symptoms like stomach cramps, diarrhea, headaches and rashes as well as arthritis, infertility and even depression in extreme cases. All this just from Gluten.
Gluten from of a whole grain such as wheat has also become so carbo-saturated that it is leaving people with more unwanted body weight. Gluten encourages greater fat deposits, which later gives way to the formation of what I like to call a wheat belly, not to mention inflammation, bloated arms and legs. As if this wasn’t enough a regular non gluten free diet that consists of wheat has also been found to promote the development of up to 55 diseases including diabetes, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia and cancer. Moreover whole grains negatively affect the bodies normal immune responses, forcing the bodies natural defenses to attack itself. Gluten whole grains can stop your digestive system from absorbing and using nutrients as well as allowing infection to spread and worsen.
So where can gluten be found? Gluten is found in foods such as whole wheat bread, pasta, packaged baked goods, some conventional seasonings, meats and even jarred sauces and other condements. It is also common among non gluten free alcoholic beverages such as beers, whiskey, scotch and gin (which are also made out of barley and rye, gluten’s other primary gluten sources).
Knowing this, for the benefits of your health now and into the future l I recommend avoiding the above foods to stop and spare yourself from the unlikely disadvantages. A gluten free diet will keep you from becoming the victim of a wheat belly and all the possible health problems I mentioned previously… so don’t underestimate the benefits of giving up the gluten and going gluten free – it completely changed my life and I know it will change yours too.
